Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PEMBROKE WELSH CORGI AND A CARDIGAN WELSH CORGI?

Many people don’t realize that not all corgis are the same breed! Here are some key differences between the two breeds:

  • Physically, the Cardigan and Pembroke are both dwarf breeds, long bodies on short thick legs. ... Besides the tail – Cardigans have a long, foxlike tail whereas Pembrokes’ have their tail docked close to their body – Cardigans are slightly larger with heavier bone.
  • Pembrokes’ coat colors are usually just sable, red, and tricolor, while Cardigans have a wider range of colors.
  • Cardigans’ have the longer tail, while the breed standard for the Pembrokes’ is to have their tails docked 3-5 days after birth along with their dewclaws. We are open to leaving the longer tails on a Pembroke providing the puppy is reserved with a deposit paid prior to 3-5 days of age.
  • We do not cross breed our Pembrokes’ with our Cardigans’.
WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO BUY FROM A REPUTABLE BREEDER?

It’s imperative to buy from a reputable breeder! For one, we take the time to get our parent dogs’ health tested, leading to fewer to no genetic health complications. Our goal is to bring healthy dogs into loving homes, and we make sure to care for our puppies as if they’re our own.

WHAT IS THE COST OF A PUPPY?

Our puppies are $1500. We require a $400 deposit at the time of selecting your puppy with the remainder of $1100 to be paid at the time your puppy goes to your home.

DO CORGIS SHED?

YES…YES and YES…. Corgis shed lots!! If you are looking for a breed that does not shed, corgis are not the breed for you. They need to be brush often and since they are a double coated dog, they will shed out mostly twice a year. I recommend to taking them to a groomer about every 3 months for a good bath and blow out. They you can maintain them easier on a weekly basis by brushing them out at home. Also, buy an amazing vacuum ?

ARE TAILS AND DEWCLAWS REMOVED?

Currently, we do remove the tails and declaws on our Pembroke puppies and the dewclaws only from our Cardigan puppies. We certainly are open to leaving a tail on a Pembroke puppy if requested in advance by a family. The puppy must be picked, and deposit placed within 3-5 days after birth. We also change the deposit to $1100 and then the balance of $400 at the time the puppy goes to it family.

DOES THE PUPPY GET ALL IT’S VACCINES BEFORE HE/SHE GOES TO THEIR NEW FAMILY?

Your puppy will be wormed for internal parasites several times and be given all age-appropriate vaccines prior to coming home to its new family. Vaccines begin at about 7 weeks of age and are 3-4 weeks apart. The number of vaccines will be determined by the age the puppy goes home. All new families will be given full documentation of what vaccines and worming’s have been performed and which vaccines will be due and when. Every puppy is examined by a licensed veterinarian at the time of their first vaccine. We also perform a parasite fecal exam to assure us and their new owners that each puppy was parasite free when they left us.

WHAT PUPPY FOOD SHOULD I BUY?

Each puppy will go to their new homes with a care package that included a bag of FROMM puppy gold food. This will allow the owners to have time to locate the brand of food in their local area or transition their puppy to another quality food. Please always do your research on the food you choose and consult with your veterinarian. Corgis can gain lots of weight if owners are not careful. A thinner corgi is a healthy and happier corgi. They will also get some toys, puppy blanket that has their mother & siblings’ scent on it, educational folder and other puppy related goodies.

DOES THE PUPPY COME WITH ANY GUARANTEES?

Each puppy goes to their new family with a 12-month health guarantee on all life threatening, congenital or genetics disorders. The puppy will be replaced with another puppy from a future litter. There are stipulations that apply and will be covered in the puppy contract that is provided to every new owner. We DO NOT offer any kind of health guarantee on any contagious issues that a puppy can contract once they leave our care or can be brought on by stress, viruses or a bacteria. This includes but is not limited to parvovirus, roundworms, hook worms, tapeworms, coccidia, giardia. If we had any concerns whatsoever about a puppy’s health, it would never leave us until it was resolved. We take great pride in turning over very healthy happy puppies.

DOES THE PUPPY COME WITH BREEDING RIGHTS?

NO…we do not let our puppies go to homes intending to breed them. We do require they be spayed or neutered by 12-16 months, with the requirement that we receive a copy of the spay/neuter certificate when it is completed. There is a binding contract in place to make sure our puppies are not at risk for a puppy mill. The contract will be enforced, and legal actions will be taken at the expense of the new owner should it be violated. We have dedicated a lot of time to produce quality puppies with amazing temperaments. They are to be companions in loving homes and we are in contact with our families.

DO YOU ACCEPT PAYMENTS?

No, we do not accept payments. We require a deposit at the time that the puppy is picked. This deposit can be paid via Venmo or a cashier’s check. The final payment must be paid in cash. We will not turn over a puppy with any form of payment beyond cash.
